OUR NAME
Over the Woodsman comes from the family name of our Managing Officer. Oberholzer can be translated from the Swiss-German into “over woodsman,” meaning “a grade above the woodcutter.” We look at our name as a way to both honor our ancestry, and dedicate ourselves to the integrity they represent to us.

Our Story 

Dave Oberholzer, our Managing Officer, was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. In construction, Dave worked his way through high school at De La Salle, in Concord, and through college at St. Mary’s, in Moraga. He graduated with degrees both in Philosophy, and in English. After college, Dave went to work in construction full-time, primarily remodeling century old high-end homes in San Francisco. Over the Woodsman Builder has been a licensed general building contractor since 1996. During the past twenty seven years, we have undertaken and completed many projects, which presented some form of unique challenge. From custom cabinets and doors all the way up to custom homes, we have taken on only those jobs, which allow for a meticulous attention to detail. 
 

OUR POLICY
While there is no job too large or small, there are many jobs which are better suited for expeditious contractors with less at stake in their reputation. Because we do not advertise publicly, it is exceptionally important that our clients are not just accepting of completed work—they must be satisfied well enough to recommend us to their friends and family. We believe that there is a relationship between client and contractor that necessitates communication and comprehension, leading to trust and reciprocity.
